A brief description of the practice:
The purpose of the Service-Learning Scholars Program is to provide students with the opportunity to make a difference in their community, combine service with their academic course work, enhance learning through experience, and create sustainable change in the form of a capstone project. The program requires 400 hours of community service, nine credits of service-learning course work,
a capstone project that combines the student’s academic interests and service, and a service-learning portfolio.
Students who complete all the requirements of the program are recognized by a certificate of achievement, cords of distinction at commencement, acknowledgment in the university commencement program, and Service-Learning Scholars achievement printed on transcripts.
