A brief description of the sustainable food and beverage purchasing program:
“At ARAMARK, we are committed to protecting and improving the environment. We work to reduce our environmental footprint while offering expertise and practical solutions to thousands of client locations to help them reduce their environmental impacts. Throughout our company, we develop and implement programs that promote sustainability through environmental friendly products and practices, sustainable food and local purchasing options, energy and water conservation efforts, and waste management. Aramark strives to offer clients and customers fresh whole foods that are raised, grown, harvested, and produced locally and in a sustainable manner whenever possible. And they partner with suppliers to increase the availability of such foods. ARAMARK buys only seafood that is on the Monterey Bay Aquarium list and has literature about sustainable food systems in Market 810. Last year 85% of VCU’s produce came from within 250 miles.”
