The names of all buildings that are certified under the LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations, LEED for Commercial Interiors, and/or LEED for Core and Shell Green Building Rating Systems:
The University has a total of 14 LEED registered projects with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) located on the Blacksburg campus (a total of 1,006,318 GSF). Four projects have been certified, three projects are completed and awaiting certification, six projects are under construction, and one project is in design. a. Four LEED registered projects have been completed on the Blacksburg campus and have received certification from the USGBC (a total of 141,240 GSF). Specifically: 1. The Henderson Hall Renovation and Theatre 101 Addition project (38,750 GSF) was completed in fall 2009 and awarded LEED "Gold" certification on February 5, 2010. 2. The Additions to the Football Locker Room project (42,145 GSF) was completed and awarded LEED “Silver” in October 2011. 3. The Institute for Critical Technology & Applied Sciences –II project (42,190 GSF) was completed and awarded LEED “Gold” certification on November 21, 2011. 4. The Visitors and Undergraduate Admissions Center project (18,155 GSF) was completed and awarded LEED “Certification” on August 23, 2012. b. Three LEED registered projects have been completed on the Blacksburg campus and documentation has been submitted to USGBC for review (a total of 369,000 GSF). Specifically: 1. Renovate Ambler Johnston Residence Hall (272,000 GSF). 2. Academic & Student Affairs Building (75,000 GSF). 3. Vet Med Instruction Addition (22,000 GSF). c. Six LEED registered projects are under construction on the Blacksburg campus (a total of 422,803 GSF). Specifically: 1. Signature Engineering Building (154,935 GSF). 2. Human & Agricultural Biosciences Building (93,860 GSF). 3. Center for the Arts (92,000 GSF). 4. Renovate Davidson Hall Chemistry Building (44,845 GSF). 5. Southwest Chiller Plant Phase I (16,655 GSF). 6. Phase IV of Oak Lane Community (20,508 GSF). d. One LEED registered project is under design on the Blacksburg campus (a total of 73,275 GSF). Specifically: New Classroom Building (73,275 GSF). In addition, the Technology Research & Innovation Center project (60,000 GSF) was recently completed for the National Institute of Aeronautics in Hampton, Virginia. Virginia Tech was the state agency that had the lead for providing project management services. Documentation has been submitted to USGBC for review and LEED Certification. The Virginia Tech Research Center- Arlington project (144,632 GSF) was recently completed. The university leases the building from the Virginia Tech Foundation, and it provides a critical research facility in Northern Virginia. The facility is LEED Certified. The University owns nine new buildings on the Blacksburg campus totaling 792566 GSF that were completed in the past five years that were designed and constructed in accordance with green building polices or guidelines shown in the Criteria Section of the credit that are not LEED certified. Specific projects are listed below in gross square feet: 1. Institute for Critical Technology & Applied Sciences- I (99,411 GSF). 2. Life Sciences I (71,799 GSF). 3. New Residence Hall West (92,800 GSF). 4. Basketball Practice Facility (52,944 GSF). 5. McComas Hall Addition (27,000 GSF). 6. Materials Management Facility (7,500 GSF). 7. Parking Structure (418,000 GSF). 8. West End Market Expansion and Renovation (7,432 GSF). 9. The Infectious Disease Research Facility project (15,700 GSF)
