A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, special (e.g. coal ash), universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
Flammable hazardous wastes are sent for fuel blending when possible. Waste solvents from university parts washers are used in the manufacturer of roofing products. Coal ash from the university power plant is used as alternate daily cover at the sanitary landfill. Universal wastes are recycled.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) collects all hazardous, chemical, universal, radiological, and biological wastes from the university. All wastes are sent to preapproved, permitted facilities for disposal, treatment, recycling or treatment, as appropriate. All manifests, LDRs, shipping paperwork and disposal certificates (as appropriate) are reviewed and maintained by EHS.
