As an added incentive, from October 1 to November 30, the university matches up to a half of the volunteer service hours for one instance. Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Members of the Washington University community completed more than 800,000 hours of community engagement during the 2015-2016 academic year, according to the Gephardt Institute. (https://gephardtinstitute.wustl.edu/community-counts-inventory/) The number for students is a proportionate estimate. In an effort to support student engagement in local community service, the Gephardt Institute offers a transportation subsidy through the CarShare Fund to assist students who face financial barriers to paying for transportation costs and do not have personal vehicles. The CarShare Fund also supports student groups, faculty, and staff that do not have access to enough personal vehicles.
