Student Sustainability Research Incentives 

Does the institution have an ongoing program to encourage students in multiple disciplines or academic programs to conduct research in sustainability? :
Yes

A brief description of the student research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:
Weber State University has an Office of Undergraduate Research that awards funding and supplied mentoring for student research projects from all disciplines. Annually, the WSU Alumni Association and the Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC) each provide a $500 award to recognize exceptional, completed Student Sustainability Research Projects. The two winners will be selected by a subcommittee of the WSU Faculty Senate Environmental Initiatives Committee. Eligible submissions include any research project involving some primary research completed during the 2018 calendar year or in Spring semester 2019 in the area of sustainability. Students who completed projects in conjunction with faculty research may apply but the role and work of the student(s) must be clearly explained. Submissions will be judged on their link with sustainability objectives, outcomes and impact (practical or scholarly), and creativity/originality. Also, WSU's Center for Leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility provides four $2,500 research grants each year for students who are conducting sustainability-related research.

A brief description of the faculty research program, including the incentives provided and any positive outcomes during the previous three years:
Every year the Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC) provides two $500 awards to recognize exceptional, completed Faculty Sustainability Research Projects. The two winners will be selected by a review committee made up of members of the WSU Faculty Senate Environmental Initiatives Committee. Eligible submissions include any research project involving some primary research completed during the 2018 calendar year or in the 2019 Spring semester in the area of sustainability. Submissions will be judged on their link with sustainability objectives, outcomes and impact (practical or scholarly), and creativity/originality.

Library Support

Within the past year, WSU established a library staff position dedicated to assisting students and faculty needing science and sustainability research assistance.
