If sustainability professional development and training opportunities for staff are made available or supported, provide at least one of the following:
WSU offers multiple sustainability professional development and training opportunities throughout the year. The largest event offered is the annual Intermountain Sustainability Summit which takes place over two days every March. All WSU faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in this event for free or a significantly reduced cost. This Summit is also open to the public and typically draws about 400 attendees. The Energy & Sustainability Office also offers several training opportunities throughout the year for students, faculty and staff. In November 2023, the Energy & Sustainability Office offered a "Zero Waste Lunch and Learn" that went over different kinds of waste at WSU, sustainable purchasing, and allowed participants to help brainstorm solutions for recycling contamination, reducing event waste, and more. In addition, the Green Badge Program helps students, faculty, and staff learn more about different sustainability topics each month.
