A brief description of the methodology/tool used to calculate the percentile local or regional rainfall events for which the institution manages runoff on-site using LID practices and green infrastructure:

WSU uses a guide put out by the state of Utah to calculate its runoff numbers for possible LID projects with new construction. The University also relies on the engineers that design new construction to calculate the 80th percentile required by the State and WSU's Stormwater Master Plan. Currently, WSU does not have any LID sites associated with new buildings.  However, WSU looks at its campus holistically and connects all new construction stormwater lines to the WSU retention pond which acts as a large LID for the university. Also in 2024, WSU updated the retection pond to be four feet deeper to increase the pond's capacity and added aerators throughout the pond to improve water quality. The project also lined the pond in concrete to make dredging and properly disposing of the material more effective and easier. This project significantly increased the LID's capacity to retain and improve stormwater being released by the MS4.
