A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
The Weber State Community Garden is a student-managed and operated garden that is focused on providing fresh fruit and vegetables. Through its partnership with WSU's Employee Wellness Program, the garden recently moved to a new location behind the Employee Wellness annex on the northern outskirts of campus. The food grown in the garden is donated to the Weber Cares Food Pantry, donated to the Lantern House (a local shelter), used in cooking demonstrations, or taken home by volunteers. This garden is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members who wish to grow their own food or assist with growing food for others in need. The garden offers education on home gardening, composting, and advice for plant care. Volunteers gain practical experience working in a horticultural setting and the first pick of produce.
