A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:

Managed in accordance with an energy/water management program:

All buildings at Weber State University have natural gas, electric, and water sub-meters. These meters are tied into Metasys and the Building OS/Atrius Dashboard which report consumption and demand in real time and issue email alerts when expected consumption ranges have been exceeded. Like Energy Star Portfolio Manager, Atrius has building benchmarking capabilities and EUIs for each building are generated to monitor performance.

In addition to receiving alerts, Atrius heat maps are reviewed regularly to identify consumption and demand anomalies for each building. If problems are found, the energy manager and water conservation specialist addresses those issues immediately through controls or put in a work order to have the issue addressed by the other shops in facilities if the problem cannot be addressed through controls.

WSU has a comprehensive energy plan for its buildings and works to improve the performance of its buildings through audits, commissioning, efficiency upgrades, full building renovations, and building new buildings that are carbon neutral capable. These goals and tasks are outlined in WSU's Sustainability and Climate Action Plans available here: https://www.weber.edu/sustainability/reports.html?_gl=1*1kuc1kf*_ga*OTkyNzcwMTMzLjE2OTUwNTM5NjI.*_ga_NBZY81HSZM*MTcxNDU3MzYzOS41MTQuMS4xNzE0NTc1MzYxLjAuMC4w

WSU also has a comprehensive water conservation plan that addresses both indoor and outdoor water use. This plan can be found at: https://www.weber.edu/sustainability/reports.html?_gl=1*1kuc1kf*_ga*OTkyNzcwMTMzLjE2OTUwNTM5NjI.*_ga_NBZY81HSZM*MTcxNDU3MzYzOS41MTQuMS4xNzE0NTc1MzYxLjAuMC4w

Through the implementation of WSU's energy and water program goals, WSU has reduced, from baseline levels:

  • Electricity consumption by 25%

  • Natural gas consumption by 46%

  • Water consumption by 28%

These savings have been achieved even with the addition of over 730,000 new square feet to WSU's campuses. A case study about how Atrius has helped save WSU energy and money can be found here: https://atrius.com/weber-state-streamlines-energy-management-saving-3-0m-in-2-years/

The public can also view the energy and water consumption of several of WSU's buildings through this public Atrius portal: https://buildingos.com/s/weber/storyboard9763/?chapterId=78303

Managed in accordance with an IPM Program

All of WSU's buildings and grounds are managed under our IPM Program. Please see the attached document for the IPM Program details.
