The mission of the Wentworth Sustainability Committee is to provide leadership for reducing the Institute’s impact on the local, regional, and global environment. We recommend approaches for increasing the Institute's commitment to sustainability in all areas of the campus including materials and energy use, waste management, construction, purchasing, and the campus curriculum while staying within the boundaries of the Institute’s financial resources and good business practices.

The diverse membership of the Sustainability Committee includes staff in Physical Plant (including energy, grounds, waste management, etc.), Planning & Construction, Business Services, faculty from across academic disciplines, and student representatives including the Wentworth Environmental Collaborative executive board and student sustainability intern.

Wentworth's Sustainability Committee is a multi-stakeholder group of faculty, staff, and students cochaired by the Associate Vice President of Physical Facilities and Director of Energy Management & Sustainability, and managed on a day-to-day basis by the Advisor / Consultant to the Sustainability Committee. The Sustainability Committee has been in existence since 2008, and leads collaborative efforts including energy efficiency and climate action planning, sustainability metrics and reporting, development of recycling guidelines and process improvements, Earth Day and other outreach campaigns and communications.
