The Wentworth Environmental Collaborative (WECo) is a student organization which promotes the fundamentals of achieving sustainability, reducing the campus carbon footprint, promoting awareness of recycling and composting as well as creating an all-inclusive and fun environment. Each year, WECo collaborates with the Wentworth Sustainability Committee to run outreach events and campaigns such as Earth Day.

The Wentworth Institute of Technology Sustainability Society (WITSS) is a student-organized and led club that is focused on engaging students in expanding their knowledge of sustainable practices. Activities include participating in campus events to promote sustainability and facilitating community and professional connections within the sustainability field. In 2023, WITSS led a training program for students to learn about green building practices and earn a LEED Green Associate accreditation (https://wit.edu/news/sustainability-society-helps-students-get-certified-energy-and-environmental-design).

Each year, Wentworth hosts numerous events to encourage a campus dialogue on sustainability. Recent examples include community engagement fairs, a series of dining hall weigh-the-waste events and library exhibit featuring the results of student research, sustainability street tabling event featuring student projects and on-campus programs, sustainability guest lectures in courses focusing on renewable energy, climate action and sustainable design; tours and presentations on recent green building projects on campus (including Alumni weekend), Trash-2-Treasure green move-out campaigns, hosting a visit by the solar butterfly (https://solarbutterfly.org/) including a showcase of student and faculty sustainability research, Accelerate design challenges focused on upcycling and energy conservation, and ongoing social media campaigns. Recent academic events include:
-The School of Architecture and Design hosted a school-wide, 6-part lecture series on Design Ethics and Climate Change.
-Guest lectures within architecture courses by Kiel Moe and William Braham; and Lisa Moffit
-COF Center for Sustainability: Wentowrth hosted a guest lecture on food Waste by Luc Dang, and coordinated the annual Muddy River Symposium featuring student research from several local universities and a keynote by the the Chief of Policy for Boston Harbor Now.
- Readings by faculty from their novel which delved into the importance of nature for our emotional and mental well being.

The WIT Outing Club is a club for anyone with a desire to be in the outdoors, to get in touch with nature, and have a great time whilst doing so. With activities ranging from short day hikes to intense multi-day backpacking excursions, outdoor rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, and quite literally anything (within reason) our club members want to do in the great outdoors.

Sustainable life skills

Sustainable life skills are taught through a variety of channels, including ongoing social media campaigns with resources for living and learning sustainability, fall and spring orientation Sustainability 101 Sessions including green tips and recycling do's and don'ts, and targeted hands-on events on topics such as energy conservation and waste reduction. Each year, Wentworth offers semester-long internships where students work directly for the sustainability program on campus. Recent examples include internships devoted to zero waste audits, sustainability engagement campaigns, and campus energy trend analysis.

In the spring, Wentworth runs a "Trash-2-Treasure" Green Move-Out Campaign, where residential students could donate gently used clothing and household items to a local charity rather than discarding items in the trash during the end-of-term move-out. In 2023, they collected 2.1 tons of materials.
