Spring 2020 workshop are planned to focus on recycling and zero waste, as well as additional transportation training.
Full descriptions:
Let’s Get Comfortable: Eco-tips and Creating Comfort in Your (Sometimes Drafty) Office Environment
Join Wesleyan’s efforts to reduce our carbon footprint! In this workshop, you’ll learn more about the big picture and what Wesleyan is doing to address climate change. We’ll expand your knowledge of energy and give you strategies for staying warm (including alternatives to space heaters).
Alternative Ways to Get to Work
Larry Laconi of CTrides (a program of CT DOT) will lead this workshop to familiarize Wesleyan employees with the myriad options for commuting to Wesleyan, including bus (Middletown Area Transit local routes, M-Link to Meriden, Hartford Line), carpool, and vanpool. In this session, you will learn how to take the bus (it’s not as overwhelming as you might think), how to use rideshare apps to find carpool matches, and how your health and happiness can benefit.
Recycling 101 and Getting to Zero Waste
If you’re regularly flummoxed by the ever-changing and complicated recycling rules, come learn about what and how to recycle on campus (and in Connecticut overall), including Wesleyan’s many alternative recycling programs for plastic bags, batteries, pens, and more. In this session, we will also discuss ways to reduce waste and opportunities for composting on campus and the new concept of “zero waste.”
