A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:
The student-run Wesleyan Green Fund supports campus sustainability projects through a $15 per semester opt-out fee on all undergraduate students. The Fund accepts student, faculty, and staff proposals and chooses projects based on their ability to make Wesleyan a more sustainable place. The Fund’s members work with project applicants to tailor projects and provide financial and managerial support.
A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:
Interview: After you have submitted your application, a Green Fund Project Manager reaches out to each applicant to schedule an interview during their weekly meetings. During the interview, applicants have the opportunity to discuss your project idea with us and go over funding details. After this meeting, applicants are assigned a contact person from the committee who works directly with applicants. The contact person answers any follow-up questions and inform applicants of funding updates.
Decision: After the meeting and usually within 24 hours, the Green Fund contact person responds to each applicant on the funding decision via email.
Meet with Sustainability Director: Awardees schedule a time to meet with Wesleyan's Sustainability Director so she can help awardees purchase anything needed for their project, reimburse funding, or assist with contracts or W-9 forms.
Report Back: Once each project is complete, awardees report back to the Green Fund Post-Project Manager to fill out a post-project evaluation form. Individuals or groups can only reapply for funding if they have completed the Post-Project Evaluation Form for each project.
