Eco Facilitators

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Eco Facilitators are peer-to-peer sustainability educators who promote sustainable habits on and off-campus. EFs are part of a 3-semester program managed by the Sustainability Office that includes a student forum (1st semester) designed to equip them with the tools to collaborate with students to encourage behavior changes (2nd and 3rd semesters). All programs are designed with inclusivity and equity in mind. Outreach activities are up to the individual Eco Facilitators and have focused on recycling, composting energy conservation, using reusable items, eliminating paper towel waste, environmental justice, sustainable period products, and plant-based eating.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):
EFs are paired with dorms, and do mostly first-year-focused/dorm activities in their second semester, and campus-focused activities in their third semester.

Program House Dinner Conversations

A brief description of the student educators program (2nd program):
The 26 program houses (10-20 people per house) on campus are eligible to participate in an activity and discussion with sustainability office interns about how sustainability pertains to the topic of their house.

Note that 1 of the program houses (Malcolm X house) is served by an Eco Facilitator.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (2nd program):
Students living in program houses (mostly sophomores and juniors). The program is open to all program house residents, though not all houses choose to participate and not all residents in participating houses attend each dinner.
