A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
Wesleyan offers a wellness program to all faculty and staff. The program includes biometric screenings, adult fitness classes, a points program, fitness challenges, and lunchtime wellness series. Wesleyan's Employee Assistance Program (https://www.wesleyan.edu/hr/other-benefits/employee-assistance.html) offers counseling, legal consultation services, financial consultation services, referrals, and more to all employees.
Students have access to the Office of Health Education (WesWell, https://www.wesleyan.edu/weswell/), which offers wellness coaching to students in the areas of sleep, exercise, self-care, sexual health, communication, drug/alcohol use, and substance-free support. WesWell also offers health education programs for drug/alcohol recovery, safer sex supplies, tobacco- and vape-free support, and bystander intervention training. WesWell also advises WesBAM (Wesleyan Body and Mind, http://wesbam.weebly.com/index.html), a student group focused on accessible mind-body awareness and fitness, including aerobics, Zumba, and yoga. In addition, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides comprehensive short-term mental health services for students which includes short-term individual psychotherapy with supplemental medication management if appropriate, as well as assistance in finding long-term providers.
