A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, bills, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
WKU has adopted numerous policies to protect the students, faculty/staff. and campus. Air Permit WKU is subject to a Title V Air Quality Permit , which may need amendment when installing, or making alterations to a piece of equipment (especially something that has a stack) such as boilers, generators, paint booths, solvent baths, etc. Hazardous & Chemical Waste Management The EHS Department maintains the RCRA Generator permit and ID numbers for all WKU campuses. We can assist with proper disposal of regulated wastes in compliance with the Resource Conservation & Recovery Act Oil Spill Prevention & Control (SPCC) Petroleum products are stored in large quantities in tanks as well as in drums, electrical equipment, such as pad switches, transformers, and diesel emergency generators. The SPCC Plan was devised to document preventive measures and spill clean-up resources on WKU's campus WKU also engages in the following: •Asbestos Management Program •Indoor Air Quality •Radon Program •Stormwater
