A brief description of the institution’s green event certification program:
The Westminster Green Event Certification acknowledges good sustainability practices at events on and off campus. Applicants use a check list of best sustainability practices and submit to the Environmental Center to receive recognition. Once their application is accepted, they can use the green event certification logo in their marketing.

Credit Checklist:

Waste minimization
 Replaces new or disposable materials with repurposed or reusable items.
 Uses no single-use plastic items (bottles, cutlery, plates, etc.)
 Provides accessible recycling bins along with instructions for what can/cannot be recycled
 Has no giveaways (a.k.a. swag bags, t-shirts, branded bags, etc.)
 Uses no more than 12 posters, size 8.5x11 to get the word out
 Uses exclusively waste-free advertising (emails, social media, in-person, etc.)
 Is a Zero-waste event!

Transportation
 Is on campus or within walking distance (1 mile or less)
 Prepares attendees by making public transit information easily available via email or a website preceding the event
 Gives attendees easy access to specific bike route information as well as the nearest bike parking
 Coordinates carpooling for attendees

Food
 Serves food items that are not individually wrapped
 Offers only plant-based foods (no dairy, eggs, or meat)
 Provides at least one vegetarian option
 Serves at least 25% Real Food (https://www.realfoodchallenge.org/what-real-food/ )
 Has no excess food thrown away

Other
 Contains content directly related to environmental issues.
 Encourages other groups on campus to host a certified green event.
