A brief description of the institution’s community garden:
Westminster's organic garden is a space for students to collectively grow, eat, and learn more about fresh and healthy food. The garden includes raised vegetable beds, a teaching/gathering space, a permaculture spiral, and compost tumblers. Student employees and volunteers plant and maintain the garden. Anyone from the campus community and beyond can join garden workdays to learn more about growing food and build community. On harvest days, fresh produce is available to volunteers, from both campus and the community, and surplus produce is donated to The Purple Basket, Westminster's food and basic needs pantry located on the first floor of Carleson Hall. The Purple Basket ensures consistent access to nourishing and affordable food options on campus.
