A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The course inventory was primarily conducted by pulling course data and descriptions from Yale Course Search. The course catalogs for Yale Law School and Yale Medical School were referenced as well. Sustainability course offerings were identified by reading course descriptions. The definitions of sustainability-focused and sustainability-inclusive were taken from the STARS 2.2 Technical Manual. In the course inventory, “SUST” indicates a course that qualifies as sustainability-focused and “SUSC” indicates a course that qualifies as
sustainability-inclusive.
Throughout, individually-directed courses, courses with four or fewer students, and strictly practice-oriented courses were excluded. Cross-listed courses were counted as separate courses, as were courses offered in the fall and spring. Courses offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels were counted as separate courses. Courses with multiple sections were counted as single courses.
