A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
1. Las Nubes: https://lasnubes.euc.yorku.ca/about-us/

Las Nubes is a project of the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change (EUC) at York University (Toronto, Canada), and supported by the Fisher Fund for Neotropical Conservation. Las Nubes Project supports the protection of the biological, ecological and social values of the Las Nubes Biological Reserve and adjacent area in southern Costa Rica. The Study Abroad Program at Las Nubes EcoCampus offers several courses during the academic year, though which students are given an unprecedented opportunity to interact with and learn from the local rural Costa Rican communities through first-hand lessons on tropical ecology, sustainability, indigenous education, arts, health, and conservation. Participants are given an unprecedented opportunity to interact with and learn from the local rural Costa Rican communities. Course activities include lectures, guest speakers, hikes, visits to sites and to communities, conversations with local stakeholders, hands-on projects with local organizations.

2. C4 Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom: https://www.yorku.ca/c4/what-is-c4/

The purpose of C4 is to provide students with an opportunity to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams on real-world challenges with social impact. The dynamic projects that animate York's classroom directly engage with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to enable students to pursue impact-driven solutions the world needs. Throughout this journey, students will develop and hone transferrable skills while learning the value of multiple perspectives and approaches to research, design, and problem solving.  This experience will help students to recognize what they can offer the world and thus prepare them for their future.
